Description
This assignment is a benchmark assignment. It is worth 300 points.
You will be writing two (2) math lessons plans.
- Both lesson plans will focus on early childhood geometry standards.
- One of the lesson plans will also include the integration of another content area (such as art, music, literacy, science ,etc.)
- You must use two different geometry standards and at least one standard from a different content area.
- You must use the COE Lesson Plan template.
- I have posted the template in the discussion forum and in the announcements. You can also find it in the Topic documents. I have also included a link to a video that was created by the COE which walks you through each section of the lesson plan template. I highly recommend you watch this video!
- You must write a 150-250 word reflection discussing professional practices related to using data for the following:
- Planning and revising instruction
- Identifying the need for differentiation or accommodations
- Providing students meaningful feedback
- Improving student outcomes
I am attaching an exemplar from a past class.
Benchmark – Integrated Instructional Plan: Math Focus |
Geometry in the early childhood classroom is more than just identifying and naming shapes. Students learn to identify shapes in the environment, think about shapes in terms of position, combine two or more shapes to make a new shape, and even create their own 2D and 3D shapes. Educators can make this learning hands-on and interactive to increase engagement.
For this assignment, use the COE Lesson Plan Template to develop two lesson plans that focus on geometry for the students in your field experience classroom. One of the lessons must include an additional core content area (reading, writing, science, social studies). Select at least two state geometry standards and one other content area standard for the grade level of your field experience class.
In addition, write a 150-250 word reflection discussing professional practices related to the ethical and responsible use of data for the following:
- Planning and revising instruction
- Identifying the need for differentiation or accommodations
- Providing students meaningful feedback
- Improving student outcomes
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Refer to the LopesWrite Technical Support articles for assistance.
