Prompt One: Use the video “Humans and Nature and Creation: Crash Course World Mythology #6” (fast forward until the 4:30 mark) as you consider the roles of animals in our two native American creation stories this week from the Pima and the Iroquois traditions. Perform a close reading of both stories as you analyze the relationships between humans and animals. Compare any similarities in the stories and contrast any differences. You may also explain how they are examples of “earth diver” or “emergence” myths if you’d like. Keep in mind the version of the Iroquois story summarized in the video (and elsewhere online) is significantly different from the one in our book, so rely on the version from our book.
