Bivariate Analysis Assignment
Open the Word file titled Riverton Youth Survey Bivariate Output. It contains output from analyses done in SPSS with this dataset.
Using this file, please do the following:
- Identify the kind of test that was conducted (be specific) and whether parametric or non-parametric statistics were used. What is the difference between the two?
- Look at the first table in the document, which presents descriptive statistics for two groups. Write a few sentences that summarize the data in the table: identify the two different groups, report the number of individuals in each group, and report the mean score and standard deviation for the two groups. Round to two decimal points. Identify which of the two groups has greater variability in their scores.
- Based on all the output provided, formulate both a null hypothesis and a research hypothesis that this statistical test might have been testing. Remember to phrase these as hypotheses, not as research questions.
- Determine whether the results of this test were statistically significant using a significance level of .05. Report the results of the statistical test in the format demonstrated in your textbook and/or lecture videos. Include both a statement about what was found and the appropriate reporting of the statistics.
- Do the results support your null hypothesis or research hypothesis from step 2? Explain why.
Label your questions and answers and submit your completed assignment before the deadline through Canvas.
