Getting Started
Before a project begins, there must be an established need or a problem to solve. A System Vision Document is a pre-project activity that briefly describes a problem and then gives a basic overview of how the new system works. It is often used to help obtain approval for a project to begin. Other documents and tools are used in support of the processes.
Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
- Describe the various phases of systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Describe the process of SDLC.
- Transform organizational requirements for information into an appropriate system specification using a variety of system description documents and automated tools.
Instructions
- Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
- Read Chapter Case at the end of Chapter 1, focusing on “Day 0: Define the Vision.”
- Using Microsoft Word, complete Assignment D0-1 by writing a one-page rough draft of the System Vision Document based on your brainstorming ideas. See figure 1.8 of your textbook for an example of a System Vision Document. The final document must be in Word format.
- Using Microsoft Word, complete Assignment D1-1 by writing a one- to two-page rough draft of the Work Breakdown Structure Document based on your brainstorming ideas. See figure 1.9 of your textbook for an example of a Work Breakdown Document. The final document must be in Word format.
- When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit your document using the Assignment submission link by the end of the workshop.
